Capstone Design Projects

It prepares you for the working world

The capstone design project in Logistics Engineering brings together LE final-year students and professionals to handle real-world logistics engineering problems. Industry brings in projects from their organizations and provides support to teams of creative, talented LE students who will design and build innovative solutions.

Major Design Experience
The Logistics Engineering program provides major design experience through LE492 Logistics Engineering projects. In this course, all students are required to carry out design projects to prepare their readiness to handle real-world engineering problems. To successfully complete these projects, students will be required to use knowledge and skills from earlier engineering courses to propose, plan, design, analyze, fabricate, and verify the proposed solutions using proper engineering standards, and incorporating appropriate multiple realistic design constraints. They must also work as a team.

To complete projects in LE492, students must use knowledge from the following courses taken during their four-year program:
  • LE 301 Engineering Economic and Cost Analysis
  • ME 109 Engineering Drawing
  • LE 202 Logistics and Supply Chain Management
  • LE 302 Inventory and Warehouse Management
  • LE 305 Purchasing Management
  • LE 304 Information Systems and Technology for Logistics
  • LE 306 Operations Research and Production Management
  • LE 406 Work Study and Plant Layout Design
  • LE 303 Principles of Transportation and Distribution
  • LE 476 Packaging System

Students must take the LE 492 Logistics Engineering Project course – in the first semester of their senior year. In these projects, students work as a team (typically 2 or 3 members) to propose and develop solutions based on problems from industries. Each year there is a theme for all projects. This is the highlight of this logistics engineering program.
