Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education (CWIE)

Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education (CWIE) in our program is the curriculum cooperated by the Logistics Engineering Program and external organizations to prepare graduates for the world of work completed with the competency to meet the needs of the job market and to develop careers in the present and prepare for future positions.

The Duties of a Student: 

• Students are required to complete LE 498 Preparation for Co-operative Education in the first semester of their 4th year. Then, students must take the LE 499 Co-operative Education course to full-time co-op at a workplace in the final semester. 

• A student and his/her workload at a workplace must have a duration of at least 1 academic semester with no less than 16 consecutive weeks of work time.

• Students are also required to give presentations to all of the other students enrolled in LE 499 that term.

• The evaluation looks at the student’s performance in multiple areas and helps assess their performance relative to the student outcomes for the program.

• Students are evaluated through a series of assignments and reports that are collected throughout the course of their cooperative study. 

Assessment: 

The processes used in the evaluation depend on two parts following: 

1. Working Performance Evaluated by Job Supervisor (60%)

A student’s performance will be partially determined by the student’s supervisor at the selected organization or company, based on the Performance evaluation form. 

2. Cooperative Study Outcome Evaluated by Faculty (40%)

Students are evaluated through a series of assignments that are collected throughout their cooperative study. Such as reports and presentations. 

The grading system is A, B+, B, C+, C, D+, D, and E.
